125g porridge oats
125g rolled oats
150g butter
75g golden syrup
75g sugar
Melt butter, sugar and golden syrup in a saucepan.
Line a baking tin with greaseproof paper.
Mix oats with liquid
bake at 175degrees centigrade for 25-30mins. less than 25 minutes for
soft and chewy flapjack. 30mins+ for crunchy flapjack. and if you
can manage it, lower the heat by at least 50deg c, and cook for a
longer time to get crunchy on the outside, soft and chewy on the
inside.
Well, that's boring flapjack. what I do is throw in;
cashews
almonds
currents
sultanas
sesame seeds
melon seeds
Make sure you lightly crush the nuts
before adding.
I also substitute part of the golden syrup for maple syrup
and half the sugar for light brown sugar. makes for a rich
and yum, even healthy, snack.
you could go further and substitute honey in the syrup, or jam.
